Become a THH Youth Ambassador
A THH Youth Ambassador (YA) is an unpaid volunteer service position, but we compensate in the form of fulfillment. We are passionate about giving and inspiring those we work with and those we work for, to always give and be their best. With the YA Program we are looking to enlist volunteer services and support from ordinary youth who do extraordinary things. We look for and accept candidates that are passionate, compassionate, and talented, leaders of their generation.
Why does THH have a Youth Ambassador Program?
We believe that you are never too young or old to get involved and that everyone can do something with what they have. With that in mind we want to get the Youth engaged in the work we do and what better way to do that than working with someone who is able to connect with their peers in a way we can't.
Additionally we are an organization that supports diversity and we recognize the benefit of having different perspectives. Working with a YA helps us hear the voice of the youth but also gives them the chance to take lead and participate in shaping our organization. This is an opportunity for the youth to gain experience, use their talents to highlight our work and encourage their peers to give by leading in example.

How does the program work?
There are no set hours required for the Youth Ambassador position. It is different from the our local and virtual internship program where you have to commit to at least 2 hours of work per week and you are given specific assignments based on your area of interest. With the YA Program there is more freedom and flexibility. YA's set their own pace and goals and we are there to guide and support them.
Each Youth Ambassador has the opportunity to create, implement and oversee at least three projects from start to finish, receiving support from their Supervisor, the THH Staff and the fellow YA's. Everyone at THH works together so we all can effectively serve the children to the best of our abilities. We are looking for enthusiastic self-motivated people who are able to manage their time and achieve results.
Most Youth Ambassadors serve for at least 1 year after THH has reviewed your progress, experience and your future plans there is a possibility to extend the terms of service. We only do this if the continued collaboration remains mutually beneficial.
You will be given 2 Performance Evaluations by your supervisor and you will be asked to complete 2 Satisfaction Questionnaires to give your feedback on the program. You will get the Evaluations and Questionnaires at the end of your 6th month and 12th month of service. Your supervisor will review your performance and progress in achieving the YA duties and responsibilities.

Benefits of being a THH Youth Ambassador
- Location flexibility and independence. You work where you are and plan projects based on your location.
- Build upon skills and interests you already have and use them to benefit the underprivileged.
- True professional experience. As a YA you develop or expand a wide range of transferable skills such as fundraising, project evaluation, public speaking, volunteer recruitment and management, communications and marketing.
- A chance to make a change. You have an opportunity to make a difference and be heard. In larger organizations you are simply one of many and there are more hoops to jump through to get your ideas realized. THH was founded and is lead by dynamic people who are open (and eager) for new ideas to breathe life into.
- With the YA Network you get to meet like minded individuals who can mentor and support you not just in THH endeavors but in your personal and career goals and development.
- After 1 year of service THH can serve as a Referee for you and we will be happy to provide you with a recommendation letter(s) based on our experience working with you.
- Fast-tracked learning. Regardless of your work experience in the non-profit sector you learn on the job and you receive coaching and guidance.
- A serious sense of accomplishment and real results. If you thrive on driving projects and seeing them completed you will love the YA Program because you can see an immediate impact from your efforts.
- You have the opportunity to mentor our THH kids and inspire them to be the best they can be.
- After successfully completing the YA Program you can apply to join the senior management team. This is still an unpaid volunteer position but with a specific area of focus. Serving as a member of the senior management team you can stay engaged and involved in the life changing work THH does.
